The amount of lessons to be competent to pass your test depends on your ability to pick things up and practice them. The DVSA recommend at least 40 hours with an instructor and at least 20 hours privately with a family member or friend.

This obviously depends on how many lessons you have. Most pupils have one lesson a week and that can vary from an hour to two hours. From experience it takes roughly 3 to 4 months to pass.

The JLP Driving School car is a Peugeot 208. It's a unleaded manual transmission. The car is personalised so you will recognise it.

You can as long as the car is safe and legal to drive. We recommend starting in the JLP Driving School car with its dual control pedals for added control the car at the beginning. When you feel confident controlling the car yourself you can move across to your own car if you have one. For the test you will need L plates on the front and rear of your car and a rear view mirror for the examiner to use. The tyre tread depth has to be a minimum of 1.6mm across the central ¾ breadth of the tyre. All lights (tail, brake, reversing, head) have to be working.
